Mission Statement and Policies

Every tree tells a story, hidden in its branches, leaves, trunk and roots.  A diary kept since germination that speaks to the history of changing weather patterns, growing seasons, growth and urbanization.  Trees are long-lived, perennial, woody, compartmentalizing, perpetually self-engineering organisms that appreciate in value with every passing year.

At Bruce Tree Expert Company Ltd. we are committed to a role as guardian of trees and advocates for the health, enhancement and sustainability of the urban forest canopy.

Our goal is to fulfill this role while striving to be the best in everything we do from workplace safety, to arboriculture practices, to customer service.

Policies

The following are excerpts from all of our policies:

Safety Policy

At Bruce Tree our first and highest priority is to provide for the health and safety, and wellness of every member of our team. We will work as a team to:

  • Promote, support and enforce safety as the first priority on the job.
  • Relentlessly pursue the path to zero injuries.
  • Ensure a safe, healthy work environment for all members of the team.
  • Promote safety as a generic life skill, both on or off-the-job.
  • Encourage and support a heathy work-life balance.

Human Resources Policy

We believe in a team approach where every employee is expected to cooperate and contribute to achieve both short-term and long-term goals and objectives.

We believe that the strength of our organization and the success of our business is based on the collective diversity, knowledge and experience of the members of our team.

It is our policy to ensure that every employee can complete their work in a safe working environment, free from harassment, abuse or discrimination on any of the prohibited grounds listed in the Human Rights Code and to ensure that every employee has a right to equal treatment with respect to employment and benefits.

Environmental Policy

As professional arborists we promote the principles of:

  1. Good urban forest management
  2. Good arboriculture practices
  3. Sustainable urban ecology
  4. Total plant health care and bio-diversity
  • We will make conscious operational decisions, which protect the environment whenever reasonably possible.
  • We will practice the 3 R’s wherever reasonably possible.
  • We do not dispose of wood or wood chips at landfill sites.
  • We will provide any support that we reasonably can to employees who volunteer to participate in worthwhile, local, not-for-profit projects that protect or enhance the natural environment.
  • We will not consciously demolish den trees or nesting trees that are currently inhabited, except where worker, client or public safety is at risk.
  • We will make every effort to minimize the net draw-down of organic matter from a given site.
  • We will base the use of pesticides and fertilizer products on an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) / Plant Health Care approach, and not to simply generate profit.

Communications Policy

It is our policy to promote effective and on going communication between employer and employee, among fellow workers, with clients and the public at large, in such a manner as to respect individuals' collective differences and to ensure optimum safety and positive results.

Legislative Compliance Policy

It is our policy to actively comply with all pertinent federal, provincial and municipal legislation and applicable regulations which govern our sector.

Service Guarantee Policy
